Scott Klinker
Offi has developed a Scott Klinker design for a new Offi children's piece, the Spaceframe. Excitingly, the Spaceframe was awarded one of the "25 Best Products of the Year" by Fortune Magazine in December 2004. In his fifteen years of practice, Scott Klinker has produced a wide range of unique and original designs including electronics, furniture and office environments for clients such as Steelcase, Hewlett Packard, Ericsson and others. He trained at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and later earned an MFA in Design from Cranbrook. His diverse professional experience has included in-house design at Ericsson Communications, design consulting with IDEO Product Development in the Silicon Valley, and design education at the Kanazawa International Design Institute (KIDI) in Japan where he served as Chair of Product Design. He is currently the principal of an independent studio practice at Cranbrook Academy of Art where he is also Designer-in-Residence and the Head of the graduate 3-D Design Department. His recent studio work aims to bridge the worlds of theoretical research and professional practice by exploiting new technologies, materials, and interactions. In addition to teaching, lecturing and a busy studio practice, Scott has organized and curated design exhibitions in Kanazawa, Detroit, New York and Milan. designer's site: www.scottklinker.com
